La cerimonia si terrà il 25 Aprile 2021 e si cercherà in tutti i modi di farla in presenza. La data di quest’anno, a causa della situazione dovuta al COVID-19, è stata posticipata di due mesi rispetto al solito, ed era successo solo altre tre volte nella storia di questi premi (nel 1938 in occasione dell’inondazione di Los Angeles; 30 anni dopo, in seguito all’assassinio di Martin Luther King e nel 1981 con il tentato omicidio a Ronald Reagan). Le ipotesi sullo svolgimento della cerimonia sono due: la prima è il live da diverse location (Los Angeles, New York e Londra), mentre la seconda vedrebbe la premiazione spostarsi alla Union Station di Los Angeles (la stazione ferroviaria più grande della città).
