La Award Season che ci condurrà alla cerimonia di premiazione dei 97esimi Academy Awards è ormai ufficialmente iniziata. Mentre le varie gilde ed associazioni cinematografiche – americane e non – hanno già iniziato a premiare il meglio del 2024, inevitabilmente ad interessare il grande pubblico sono in primis gli Oscar. In questo senso, l’Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences ha annunciato le shortlist di ben 10 categorie, tra cui si nascondono ovviamente le opere e gli artisti che verranno premiati il prossimo 2 marzo al Dolby Theatre di Los Angeles. Per le vere e proprie nomination bisognerà invece aspettare il 17 gennaio. Sorride anche l’Italia: Vermiglio è rientrato tra i 15 lungometraggi per l’Oscar al miglior film internazionale e sogna una candidatura, nonostante Emilia Pérez resti il grande favorito della vigilia.

Quante possibilità ha Vermiglio per l’Oscar al miglior film internazionale?

L’Italia sorride: tra le 10 shortlist che l’Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences ha svelato nelle ultime ore, c’è anche quella relativa all’Oscar per il miglior film internazionale e, tra i 15 lungometraggi, c’è anche Vermiglio di Maura Delpero. Il film – presentato in anteprima all’81esima Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica di Venezia, dove ha vinto il Gran premio della giuria – è certamente tra i più importanti di questo 2024 di cinema italiano e sta ricevendo elogi in tutto il mondo, ma che ambizioni può riservare per gli Oscar 2025?

L’opera può indubbiamente puntare ad una nomination – è stata candidata anche ai Golden Globe 2025 – ma la concorrenza è agguerrita: Emilia Pérez di Jacques Audiard (Francia), I’m Still Here di Walter Salles (Brasile), The Seed of the Sacred Fig di Mohammad Rasoulof (Germania) sembrano i titoli più forti, con una posizione che verrebbe giocata tra Italia, Danimarca (The Girl with the Needle), Lettonia (Flow) e Senegal (Dahomey). Una candidatura dunque assolutamente possibile, ma da non dare per sicura. Molto più complicato il discorso riguardante la vittoria della statuetta: Emilia Pérez parte nettamente favorito, otterrà verosimilmente 5-7 candidature e sarà davvero complicato da battere ma per l’Italia, considerando l’ultimo ventennio, già essere presenti sarebbe un grande traguardo.
